Our History:

For more than fifty years, Gloyer’s Pharmacy has provided for the medicinal needs of the people of Tomball and the surrounding area. The history of Gloyer’s Pharmacy begins with the son of two German immigrants, who dreamed of becoming a pharmacist and owning a pharmacy in small town America. That young pharmacist was named Wayne Gloyer, who took his dream and turned it into a thriving business and a mainstay in historic Tomball, Texas.

Wayne Gloyer’s parents immigrated to the United States from Germany in the 1920s. They arrived separately and settled in New York, where the met, married, and where Wayne was born in 1934. In 1948, Wayne’s father was transferred to Chicago, and it was there that Wayne finished growing up and made the decision to study pharmacy. He graduated from Purdue University in 1956 with a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy, and would have started looking for a pharmacy in which to work, but he received his draft notice to report for service in the United States Army that same year.

It was fortunate for Wayne that he was drafted and sent to Germany, for it was during his time there that he  became reacquainted with and married his wife, Karin. Wayne brought Karin back to the United States after he was discharged in 1959, and they purchased Kerr’s Pharmacy in Tomball, Texas the following year. The name was changed to Gloyer’s Pharmacy and Wayne and his family have served their community ever since. After Wayne retired, he left the daily running of the family business in the hands of his son, Pete Gloyer. Lance and Megan, Pete’s son and daughter, also work here, making Gloyer’s Pharmacy a multi-generational business. Karin passed on from this life in March 2014 and Wayne followed after her in January 2016; yet his family continues to serve their community in Karin and Wayne’s memory.
